A terrifying collection of true life, spine chilling tales from across the county
Given the many historical battles on the troubled border between England and Scotland, it is hardly surprising that Northumberland is one of the most haunted counties in the British Isles. Drawing on historical and contemporary sources, Darren Ritson takes an in-depth look at the unexplained phenomena, apparitions, poltergeists and other paranormal activity that inhabit this historic county.
From the tale of the Hexham Heads to the ghost of Lucius at Hadrian’s wall, Haunted Northumberland tells stories from every corner of the county and is sure to surprise residents and experts alike. This intriguing collection includes stories such as the ghost of Longstone Lighthouse, the Flodden Field Phantoms and the knight of Bamburgh Castle, who is often heard clattering his way through the dark chambers of the great Norman keep.
