Nessie caught on camera?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Ian Monckton and Tracey Gordon pulled into a layby near Invermoriston at 11pm, with the window down, and heard a commotion in the loch. Using the car headlights, they snapped a picture of what the believe to be Nessie. Mr Monckton said: ‘There is clearly a very large shape in the water that looks aquatic a few metres out from where I was standing and you just see the tips of the trees lower down the slope to the loch in the photo.’ He has passed the picture to naturalist Adrian Shine of the Loch Ness Project to get his expert opinion. Yorkshire panther

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

A witness has told Big Cats in Britain: ‘I was on the Trans Pennine Express train travelling from Hull to Leeds. I saw a panther as the train was approaching Gilberdyke station. Gilberdyke is a village at the southern foot of the East Yorkshire Wolds. The train didn’t stop at the station but slowed down on the approach. The panther was near a wooden fence, which gave me a good idea of scale. It was far too big to be a domestic cat or a dog, especially considering its shape. I couldn’t believe my eyes at first, so a leant towards the window to have a longer look. I didn’t say anything to the other passengers as no one else around me was looking; there were four carriages on the train, which was fairly full. I thought about calling the police but then the cat would probably be long gone by the time they would get there and I wasn’t sure I wanted the cat to be caught anyway. I’ve heard of sightings in the area for many years and it is obviously not causing a major problem to the public.  With hindsight it had probably descended from the hills to find food after the snow. It was close to farms. However, there are often Roe Dear seen in the area too. (Big Cats in Britain)

Yorkshire panther 2

‘I was sat on the front seat above the driver of the Classic Coach Tours Bus, and we had left York City at 4.15pm to avoid heavy traffic. We travelled along the A1M which is three lanes of traffic, travelling north, and a car on our left overtook the bus; we were in the middle lane, and there was a car or vehicle on our right, which was just about to overtake us. As I watched out of the front window, I saw what I thought to be a feral cat (small), but as we drew closer, the cat was not small, but very large. The cat had nowhere to go, and turned into our lights, snarled and drew close to the ground, and then bounded towards us on the left side of the bus. Its large thighs and the huge thickness of the base of its tail (about 7-8 inches wide), flew past the window into the blackness. The cat had leapt into the road and the middle lane, but because of two other vehicles coming ahead of the coach, it could not attempt to reach the sides of the road at either side, and had no choice to try and escape anyway it could. I hoped it had not been hit by anything behind us.’ (Big Cats in Britain)

Ball of fire 2

Photographs of a similar UFO were taken by Michael Simpson over St Helens in Lancashire. Mr Simpson said: ‘It was around the height that the police helicopter can normally be seen, so this was my first thought as to what it could be. There was, however, absolutely no sound emitting from the object. I had stopped travelling at this point and the object was moving very slowly and steadily towards me. It could not have been travelling any faster than 40-60 knots. Initially, I thought I could see a shaft of orange or red light shining down beneath the object, but as it crept ever closer it became apparent I was looking at flames. Please, let me be clear; I do not think I saw flames. I know I did.’ (St Helen’s Observer)

Hanging over the Highlands

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Unidentified orange UFOs have been spotted several times recently in Ross-shire, Scotland. One witness, Mrs McDonald, was travelling to work in Alness and reports: ‘I saw three bright orange lights in the sky, about 100ft off the ground. They looked like they were flickering inside. I was on the A9, just passing Rosskeen Church. I thought at first it was something to do with the oil rigs in the firth and that they had put up some new masts, but as I got nearer I realised they were just hanging there.’ (Ross-shire Times).

Luftwaffe scrambled

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

A mystery object was tracked over the skies of Germany by air traffic controllers, the German Air Force was scrambled to intercept the UFO which crossed the whole of country, putting several airports on red alert. An official report is now being compiled by the Air Traffic Safety Office, (DFS) who said: ‘We have ruled out all the conventional possibilities – it is a mystery. When it vanished from the radar we believed that whatever it was had crashed but there was no crash site to be seen.’ The object was last seen over Grafenwoehr, which is an area used by American troops for training. 19th Century ghosts

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

In January, English couple Tony and Doreen Galbraith were holidaying in CO Fermanagh, Ireland, when they had an unusual experience. Mr Galbraith reports: ‘My wife and I decided to take a walk. We went to an area known as Cleenish Island, a very rural setting with many deserted dwellings near the village of Belnaleck. We drove our car across the bridge onto the island and drove about a mile further down the twisty narrow road, where we decided to stop and take a walk to where we were told there was an old graveyard. The area was so quiet and peaceful it made for a lovely walk, even though it was cold and getting dark. The closer we walked to the graveyard, the more old empty houses we passed, the more myself and my wife began to become spooked. It felt like we were not alone. As we passed the house, my wife claims someone walked past the window. Although she only caught a glimpse, she says that she saw a man wearing clothes like from the 19th century period. I walked into the house but could not see anyone.’

On their return they had another odd encounter, as Mr Galbraith explains: ‘We approached the old graveyard and both saw a lady standing amongst the gravestones ruins. As we approached closer, we noticed she too was wearing what looked to be clothes from the later 19th Century. She smiled at us and I said, “Are you alright?” As I said, this she walked in amongst the trees and disappeared. (Fermanagh Herald).

Irish white lady

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

As reported in last month’s issue, the curious have been flocking to the Mullaghmoyle Road near Coalislan in Northern Ireland for a glimpse of the ‘white lady’. For the last four weeks cars have been lined up nose-to-nose, people arriving armed with cameras and camcorders in the hope of catching a photographic image of the ghost with the sad face. Raymond Bell, who owns a pub nearby in Brackaville, said his 17-year-old son Ryan had not believed in ghosts until he saw the ‘woman’ several times. ‘My son says he has seen the shadowy figure on numerous occasions and others have seen it, too – it is the face of an elderly lady wearing a long white dress with a long white cape,’ he said.  People are still coming in their droves to see her. They come when it gets dark at about 4.30pm and they stay until after 1am.  It is only about 400 yards away and I have tried to get down there but there are just too many cars. It is all that anyone is talking about.’ (The Telegraph)

V-Shaped

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

A V-shaped UFO was spotted over the Californian San Fernando Valley by a young couple on their way to dinner. They were driving in a convertible with the top down. Bush fires were raging near Santa Clarita and the smell of smoke was heavy in the sky. They then noticed ‘an usually large object which frightened the hell’ out of them: ‘An enormous V–shaped craft, hundreds of feet across, with red lights, lumbering slowly across the sky.’ The object displayed several other coloured lights and gave off an eerily red glow. After several minutes, it ‘just vanished’. (MUFON)

Tentacled

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Soquel, California. The witness reports: ‘We were working, and I was on my lunch break, when I heard my father calling my name and saying, “What’s that in the sky?”  I didn’t think it was going to be what I saw. I got out of my truck and looked into the sky. There it was, a metallic object. It moved slowly across the sky, but the arms of it rotated and moved without sync. It looked like octopus arms, individually moving in different directions. The object continued to move across the sky until it was no longer visible. This object was extremely far up in the sky. I believe I saw a UFO.’ (Photos at  http://www.coasttocoastam.com)
